Maddie Left Her for Another Man and Is Pregnant Again

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Season 5, Episode 3 of 9-i-1 .

We see the relationship between Maddie (Jennifer Dear Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) come full circle after Maddie gives birth on the Apr 19 episode of 9-i-1. The birth of Jee-Yun Han ushers in a new era for the starting time responders, who accept had their share of tragedy in the by.

But with the birth of Jee-Yun comes some more sadness for the couple. Throughout the end of Flavor 4, fans watched Maddie struggle with postpartum depression. And while she seemed to be better in the Season five premiere, showrunner Tim Minear promised that the worst isn't over yet — a promise that was fulfilled in Episode 3. Did Maddie simply go out 9-ane-1?

Is Maddie leaving '9-one-ane'?

On May 18, Jennifer Beloved Hewitt and her married man, Brian Hallisay, announced that they would be welcoming their third kid together.

Jennifer told People, "We had always been open to a third, but definitely didn't call up in the crazy yr that the entire world was having that it would necessarily be this moment."

"I feel like we've been able to and then far raise ii really special kids who will be great role models. This has been such a pleasant, beautiful, surprising gift in this time to be able to get to do all that again with some other little human," she added. On Sept. 9, Jennifer gave birth to Aidan James, so it's likely she was significant at some point while filming Season five of ix-1-1.

Dissimilar Jennifer, however, Maddie is having a much harder time coping with new motherhood. In Season 4 of 9-i-ane, viewers learned that the dispatcher was struggling with postpartum low, which, according to Jennifer, is a very real consequence for working moms.

Jennifer told TV Line, "We always play things pretty real on this prove. You lot will see the good in the heart about both of those things. I'one thousand actually happy to get to play that for working moms out in that location who are watching."

After giving birth, fans saw Maddie determine to leave her chore for her mental wellness, but fifty-fifty worse, Episode 3 of Season v saw Maddie determine that she's not rubber for her daughter to exist around.

Maddie dropped her child off at the firehouse, forth with a video message for Chimney: "I'm sure that you are dislocated, hurt, and probably really scared. I don't know what to say. You don't need to go to the law or come looking for me. I'one thousand not in any danger and no one is making me do this. Jee-Yun is not safe with me, not now and maybe [not e'er]. I know that you're going to accept really good care of her, and she'south better off without me. I beloved you. I dear both of you. And I'm actually sad."

According to Tim Minear, Season 5 is going to proceed to accost what'south happening to Maddie. He told Idiot box Line, "It's a story that I don't desire to give curt shrift to. It will terminate upwardly creating a major complication for Season 5."

And for their family?

Considering the timing of the birth of Jennifer'due south new baby, it seems likely that Maddie running away offered Jennifer some time away from the cameras to give nascence and bail with her new baby boy.
